Notes from the 2013 NECoPA

I had a poster accepted at the 2013 Northeastern Conference on Public Administration. Great conference with two especially intriguing sessions. The first was about technology in public administration where I heard about a study about MPA programs and technology management. Essentially, there are few MPA programs that have a concentration or even electives on technology management and data science. As I was taking notes, I was also sketching out ideas for MPA courses in data science and IT management in government.

The second session was a discussion on networks and hierarchies in government. This was essentially about using informal networks to help supplement or complement the formal hierarchical structures in government agencies. Much progress has been made but there is still more to be done. We had a few folks from non-profits that spoke about their challenges and it was beneficial to hear their challenges.

Presenting on "Agile Policy Making" at the North Eastern Conference on Public Administration

I'm presenting a poster on "Agile Policy Making" at the 2013 NECoPA at the University of Delaware.  If you are in the area on November 1st or 2nd, please stop by to share your thoughts on how data science and complexity theory has changed policy analysis.  If you can't make it to the conference, I will post the conference poster to this blog and offer a special video briefing.
